So I went for a walk in the woods today and spotted this doe at about 40 yards.


Sure enough, she had a fawn nearby. As soon as I moved, the fawn made a bee line for me.

























Had a few other close encounters. In 8 hours in the woods, I ran into about 14 deer. Great day for a hike.

3 feet was as close as it got. Mom's ears were laid flat back at that time.

I have since lost the pictures but a buddy of mine got that close to a bedded yearling buck but crawling on his stomach, avoiding eye contact and pretending to eat grass... They were nose to nose.

I came across a few fawns but all have been curled up in a ball and never moved.
