I have recently discovered the pink worm. I found out that it works great at all times. I had caught a steelie Sunday on the Sky using a pink worm and a corky above it. What do you usualy do when drifting the worm? Just the plan worm or something a bit more?

I like to fish the pink worm on a 1/4 oz jighead below a float. They grab it and won't let go.

Do you use a painted or plain 1/4 oz jighead. And what size hook? Thanks

They don't seem to care if the jighead is painted or not, I'm sure they are keying on the worm. The hook size is a #1.

I rig pink worms with a 2/0 or 3/0 gammy. I usually use the six-inch Power Float Worm, but have also had success with those made by Zoom. I trim about an inch off the front of the worm and add a drift bobber. I used to thread them so the hook hangs at the rear of the worm, but it kinks too easily. Now I just thread the worm as far up the hook shanks as it will go, so the point sticks out in the middle of the worm. Yes, I've missed a few short-strikers. But, it sure beats making that perfect cast into a log jam, where you're sure Ike or Tina lays, only to reel up the worm and find out it's tied in a knot.

I like the little two inch grubs--either behind a rag or corkie, or rigged on a gammie, plain, under a bobber(clear water)Pink is a great color, but other colors work well too.---

Do you have a lot of worm hanging loose or do you just pinch it down to size? I've tried fishing powerworms on jig head but always feel like I've got too much flapping and pinching down past the worm "neck" seems like it takes any action away.

How do you store worms in the boat while fishing? I am assuming that everyone pre-ties them at home like regular drift leaders?? I tried just throwing them pre-tied into a zipper bag.... what a mess. Any suggestions?

i like to just put my pre-tied leaders in a pips leader container,then i just take the leaders out is i need them,put on my worm then tie on the leader,a little time consuming but i'm sure it's quicker then trying to untangle my rigs.hope that helps.

Those babies will roll right onto a leader roll. I use Roll bar padding from Summit racing, its alot harder foam and dosent get torn up after a short amount of time sticking hooks into it, and also dosent let the leaders come loose because of soft foam after extended periods of storage and or handling. I also keep a couple short lengths of it handy to slide the slit edge over the edges of my tackle trays in the driftboat. It works awesome for keeping Kwickies, Steelie plugs and other assorted Spinners and Spoons right at you fingertips, but not in your finger tips. Ready to change at a moments notice.

TH, I use ziplock bags also. The secret is not to overstuff each bag with the premade leaders. Six to eight rigs is plenty.

I've also tried putting the worm rigs on leader rolls. Works great for the short-term. But if left on the rolls for extended periods, some worm ripping occurs; probably from wiggling in transit.

I use a 4" curly tail in bubble gum and pinch an inch off the head end before I thread it on the jighead. They usually gobble the whole thing, I've got them where you couldn't see the worm in their mouth when you've landed em.

I have been reading these post on fishing with jigs for awhile and have been wanting to give'em a try. I mostly like the idea about putting the pink worm on a jig head, the problem is what size of jig heads/hook works best and where can I find just the jig heads with nothing on them?

For jigheads contact rainbowjigs@aol.com. They supply ones that will hold a large fish. For winter I run 1/4 oz heads and for summer(or low water) I run 1/8th oz heads.

Had son go to sportco to get me some pink curly worms, they said the guides bought them all up. Anyone know where else I can get some?

I just went down to the Outdoor Emporium during lunch and bought some more pink worms. The brands that seem to work are the killer worms and the Excude ( not sure if I spelled Excude right). This is what I have had good luck on! They come in 4" sizes and I think even in a 3" size also. Good luck!
