In an effort to steer the board away from recent ugliness, how about a discussion of something that I've always wanted to get more opinions about: Chinook holding water.

I've always fish for fall chinook in deep, boily pools. Lots of turbulence and eddying. In contrast, the good springer pools on the rivers near me are fast water pools with only a litle bottom structure. What do some of you think/know about this?

I fish basically the same areas for spring and fall salmon, so I guess I can't really answer your question. But I have a question. Not being much more experienced at salmon than I am at steelhead.... when do the Springers start showing themselves in rivers like the Cowlitz or the WInd?
