I was thinking about trying the raging river. Is there a hatchery on the raging, or is planted? If planted, does anyone know about where it is planted? Also, I found the site a while back with plant numbers, I was wondering if there is a site for plant locations? thanks for any info--mike

No hatchery on the Raging, but it's planted upstream. TU used to have a rearing pond along the river in Upper Preston, when there were fingerlings to spare, on private land.
Big problem on that river is no access to speak of above I-90! And landowners somehow own the land to middle of the river, so we can't even wade without permission. Good luck!

I don`t know if the raging river is declared navitable waterway but has always been my understanding that any water declared navitable cannot be owned. I may be wrong and I`m not sure where to check, possibly the "gold and fish" book.

Ok.. Here's a little piece of info... the Lower stretch of the Lyre, to the saltwater is completely private land.. One of the few instances of it in the state. What happened was that the land was claimed before the laws went into effect, and they fought to keep it... In turn, we have to pay to fish it now... You cannot just walk down the riverbed to fish it, as in most other private property cases. Hope this helps as it is possible to own the riverbed.

However, if you are in a float tube, or raft of some sort, you'd be safe, just so you didn't touch bottom,as one cannot own the water itself. However, it would be strictly lawful by techincality, asking for trouble, blah blah.. Not to mention HARD TO DO... =) Trust me, I've checked into, and considered all aspects of how I could fish that darn section..

...although I would not suggest taking a floattube down the Raging or any other type of flowing water. Its extremmly dangerous for many reasons especially lack of control and the fact that your legs are dragging along the bottom and can hang you up than flip you. I believe thats how Jim Teeny's dad died on the EF Lewis I think it was.
Tom I am not trying to be a smartass just want to make sure that any novices that saw that didnt go out tomorrow and take a floattube down the Raging, the Sky or any other river.

That situation exists on the Icicle river near leavenworth. The land owners own out to the middle of the river. One of the best springer holes has people on both sides that invite all their friends down to fish and shut everyone else out. It's pretty annoying to say the least!
