Yeah, trout. Just returned from a couple of weeks down in Costa Rica, mostly for nature photography and guaro.
But, I did get in some flyfishing for some of the most beautiful rainbow/redband I have ever seen. Rich green, large spots, red gill covers and bellies, dark red lateral lines. And they liked dries.
The river was packed (I could see 10-20 at one time) wild fish; mostly in 6-12" range. If you want big ones there are fee-for-fishing ponds with acrobatic 16-24"+ chrome-bright fish.
I love stream fishing for feeding trout and this was probably the best couple hours I have had trou fishing in multiple decades.
Also saw a couple nice redds and some fairly young fry on stream edges.

We were at 2200m. Probably lots of groundwater keeps it "cool" as there sure isn't any snow.

Costa Rica is a wonderful place for photography. The overall environment is very nice.

I have driven in the mountains there several times. Everytime I see a beautiful stream I wonder how the trout fishing might be. But I'm always rushing to a saltwater destination. Thanks for sharing.

If you find yourself in San Jose stop at the Hotel Del Ray. You can get ANYTHING you want there, they can set you up with fishing adventures also. Its not a place to take you wife, girlfriend or children! Don't go wandering around at night either. The Blue Marlin Bar at the hotel is a fun place. http://www.delreyhotel.com/
