I need help selecting a steelhead plug rod. I have an old glass Fenwick FS 83 which I consider awesome. It is rated at 6-15. Nice sensitive tip with backbone on reserve. Can you recommend another good rod currently available? Sometimes I think about giving one of the downrigger rods advertised in Cabela's a try. But I shy away because of the low price (less than $50.00) because of the potential poor quality. Any ideas? Thanks.

My buddy Steve and I have the GLoomis MBR941C and really like it! It's a 7'10" one piece rod, has an extra fast tip and strong backbone to bury the hook. Not a bad rod for $135.

This is our second season fishing the MB 941 for steelies and I really like it. I think it is a much better steelhead plug rod tha the 981's. (Rumor has it that Bob is fishing them as well... that says a lot.

If you like the Fenglass, I just picked one up at Outdoor Emporium on sale for $70. Great rod for the money.
