Springers are just around the corner, and I was wondering..... I was taught to fish 'em by trolling plug cut herring and that is all I have ever done, fishing mainly the Cowlitz, Columbia and Wind. What are some other tips/techniques that are succesful for the Springers??? Always looking to try some different techniques and learn something new.

Tight lines!!

If you are going to fish Springers, you definately need to learn how to backbounce prawns, sandshrimp, or eggs as these are probably the top choices of most serious springer fisherman. Although trolled herring can be extremely effective at times, generally the baits above are going to outfish herring most of the time. I do like herring if the water is up and off color some. If you are getting a bite, feed these fish until they start taking line off your reel as they generally will swallow the bait if you let them(make sure you can legally keep them,or I probably wouldn't fish bait at all). Good luck.

Hey side slider are you talking about the Wenatchee river return or the icicle creek return? When do you fish for these toads?

most of those fish are supposed to be headed for icicle creek. I have never fished there but you can bet I will make at least one trip when the dam counts start to get heavy. turn-um-loose

If it's not giving away some big secret..... where is this Icicle Creek located?? I have seen it mentioned before, but have no idea where it is located.

Thanks,

Umrules, I think Icicle creek is on your right just before you head into leavenworth. I've fished it before during the summer months and remember lots of visible salmon heading up the slots. Take a right at the bp station and follow the signs.
