1. Helped a friend with a .300 blackout build this weekend.
We took his 16" Daniel's upper apart and swapped barrels with an 8.5" Rainier' Arms barrel in the same caliber. He was tired of the additional length and weight when shooting suppressed, so he wanted a full time suppressed rifle. This involved TIG welding the suppressor to the barrel to permanently attach it so he was compliant with BATFE rules. Ending length came out perfect at 16.25".
2. Found a neglected .20 caliber Sheridan Bluestreak rifle. Corrosion on the brass pneumatic tube, rust on all the steel parts, and the stock was pretty scratched up. Pumped it up and the rifle shot great out to 25 yards, so it was worth restoring.
Brushed off the rust and corrosion with a wire wheel, sanded down the stock with 220, and then once the clean-up was complete started refinishing. I was abled to salvage the bluing on the triger and the rear sight, so those stayed blue. After taping off a number of parts I hit the main body of the rifle with some high temp flat black.
The stock turned out to be walnut, which was a surprise to me. I hit it with some golden teak oil, let that sink in, and then hand rubbed the finish. Turned out pretty good.
