To the many people who get wdfw Facebook status updates. They are posting my picture of a huge treble hook in my elbow. Saying this is the result of a snagger getting what he deserves.

This is a false rumor. Wdfw has stepped to a new low.

Story goes for those who care.

I was float fishing eggs on the skokomish river at the car body whole. I hooked a piece of fishing line, attactched to a fish. When the fish jumped out of the water the hook came unlodged from the fish and came flying back at me like a bullet. I fell back dodging the hook but it slammed Into my elbow.
The ER trip cost a wonderful $2000.

That is the true story.

I'm sure some of you may have already posted your insults on the Facebook page.

Maybe you all might like to hear the true story behind the picture.

Thanks for your time

Talk about being caught in the act…

Anyone who casts their line into Washington’s rivers while salmon are running has witnessed at least a few unethical anglers participating in “snagging.” For those who don’t know what snagging is, it’s hooking a fish in a way that does not involve the fish voluntarily taking the hook(s) in its mouth. This is usually achieved by casting a treble hook into a salmon-filled river and jerking it along the bottom to try to hook the salmon in its side (in freshwater fishing, it is illegal to possess a fish hooked anywhere other than inside the mouth or on the head). This is a gross misdemeanor in Washington State that can result in a year in jail and/or a $5,000 fine. To add to the pain, as demonstrated in this photo taken on the Skokomish River, is the very real possibility of catching yourself, or your fishing buddy, with your treble hook.

Don’t try this at home, folks – it’s just not worth it.

I've driven down there and watched tribal members use gear exactly like that, horsing the fish they snagged up the gravel bar and throwing them in the bushes. I also saw a family showing their 8-10 year old how to snag with one of those, when he reared back to "cast" he got the large treble stuck in the back of his neck.

you have to understand that its not really the WDFW per say that runs that page, but rather a stupid ass intern like for the news, on FB... they do work for the WDFW, but its noone of any importance, they trusted someone, and got that for it.... just an idiot, not a cop....

how did they get your picture in the first place?

They owe you an apology and maybe a little more for the pain and suffering you endured because of a snagger.

I emailed them with my concerns about Indian fishing practices on the skok.

My bad to send a picture.

Still does not give them the moral rights to allow this being posted. Whether is be some idiot intern or not.

Wdfw has the power to take this down. And make it right.

Thanks. The true story is out there. Those of you who have seen this picture through me personally, obviously know me and know the story posted by wdfw is untrue. To those of you who could care less who I am, and get these Facebook updates, you now know the true story.

I'm just making this public as possibly. Because wdfw needs to be responsible for their actions. No matter how big or small they may or may not be.
