Okay, here's the thread I promised... Season wager is for a bottle of decent whisky (I'll provide)...

RULES:
* Each week you pick which team -- Hawks or Niners -- will do better AGAINST THE SPREAD... I'll post the lines on WED.

* If either SF or SEA have a bye, no wagering that week.

* Dec 8 you pick winner vs. the spread of the 9ers/hawks game. Please post your pick as the first word of your post, smack talk/etc after you post is encouraged, particularly if it involves Hankster.

* Must post your answer before kickoff of the early game, and posts cannot be edited/replaced/altered once made. If you want to wait 'till Sat for an edge, then wait.

* One point per week you guess correctly... Top point getter wins, tie breaker will be the person with the longest "winning" streak to end the season. If that's still a tie, then person who submitted their entry first on the week their streaks began.

* If rules need clarification/improvement, I'll make changes here and in a post at the end of the thread...

EXAMPLE
#1 -- Both teams win by 7. Then SEA was the correct pick, as they had smaller spread and won by the same amount

#2 -- Sea loses by 1, SF wins by 1. SEA still the correct pick, they did better after spread adjustments were added...

#3 -- Sea loses by 7, SF loses by 3. SF wins, because after spreads Sea loses by 10, SF loses by 9.5.

Game of the week, Colts v. Hawks...Hawks win in a more impressive manner than many think as our defense puts a hurtin' on the Colts...27-13.

Snoozer of the week...two .500 teams playing to see who gets to be in second place in their division, or third...that would be the Texans vs. the Niners...and I think the Texans will win outright, no need for the spread at all.

Hate to miss a chance for decent whisky, but spread math is kinda' outa' my league even tho I'm pretty good at regular math. And what if the spread is wrong? Are we supposed to bet against the Hawks then?

Salmo, it's really not that bad... All you do is decide who is more likely to do better this weekend, compared to how their both predicted to do.

Vegas predicts Seahawks will win by 3 this week -- on the road, vs. Indianapolis. Vegas also predict SF will win by 6.5 -- at home vs. the Texans (ignore why they do .5).

Now all you have to decide is -- well, who will OVERACHIVE the most vs. these expectations? Or, in the case they both underachieve their expectations, who will do so by the least amount? The spread just makes it much more of a toss up each week, so intuition, coin flipping, or witchcraft are fine approaches here.

OK, Hawks will beat the spread. Do I have to guess by how much? The niners will be close to the spread, and may seriously under perform, given the trend they're on.

Niners. The Colts game is a trap and the Texans are a little banged up from playing the Hawks. That and I also feel a bit sorry for Hankster.
