First time posting on this board, although I have enjoyed reading it for several months.

I am spending a week at the South end of Whidbey Island the third week of March. I would greatly appreciate if one of you local fisherman could give me some advice as to where I might try catching some salmon or steelhead within an hour or two drive from there. I have done alot of steelhead fishing here in Idaho, and could bring my drift boat; but would prefer to bank fish, since I don't know the rivers up there.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated; I would be happy to respond if any of you ever make a trip to the Salmon River in Idaho.

Thanks!

No idea about the fishing info you request, but notice that I do live very close to you. If its one day with no idea of where to go, treat yourself to a guided trip. There are a lot of options but might require a bit longer of a drive than you mention. If you are going to do it might as well go big right??? Good luck.

I use to live on the south end , a great place. When you are there winter blackmouth will be open, which should be good and I could put you in touch with some people that would be more than willing to take you I am sure. Also the catch and release native season will be in full swing on the skagit and sauk rivers which are great rivers too fish, and are within the 2 hour time limit to drive to.If you need any more help or need more info just e-mail me. The N.F. Stilly is also within your striking distance. ( Not to mention the Sky.) By this weekend, everything will be low and clear. Like I was telling F.F. (Fishin Farmgirl) this can be a good thing for someone new to show up. I'm sure the River can produce under these condition's if you go small. The smallest size's of corkie's in pink/white, Pink, and orange tipped with a little shrimp,(very little) will take fish. (humpie@freei.net if you want direction's to some specific hole's. And remember to tell everyone that it rained every day out here. Enjoy your trip!
