It's getting time to get new line on the reel. I would like to try something different for a change. Been looking at silver thread excalibur, jinkai and yo-zuri hyrid and hardcore. The yo-zuri lines are in the new Cabelas catalog, I've never heard of them before. Any experience or comments on any of these lines would be appreciated. Thanks.

For the past 6 months I have been buying just about every brand of fishing line on the market to see what I would like to use for different ocassions. I have not tried the Yo Zuri but I have just order some; but cabelas has the D.A.M. Tectan which I have been using now for the past month and i like this line a lot too. It is smaller in diameter and the knot strength is very good. It is made in germany and orcas in B.C has the full line of mono and braid made by them. You can check out their web page, its something different if you are in the market to try out a new line. It is very comparable to the Maxima.
And if you dont like it you can return it and get your money back

I've been using the Silver Thread Excaliber for the last couple years on my jig rods and I love it! Best line I've ever used on a spinning reel, and I've tried alot of them.

BB,
Here is my .02, I have tried alot of different lines in the past few years. I fished Maxima forever and I would have beat the living crap out of anyone that disagreed with me that Maxima was the very best. Then I started my own business and started tying all my products leaders with ANDE mono. I even went as far as trying ANDE on my 5501's and went with Maxima on my Bantams. I usually fish 12 pound line for winter runs and have found that ANDE is just as good if not better than Maxima. I have not really been in any brushy water, aka bass fishing, but I do put my gear to the test. Ask anyone I fish with. I go through reels like no tommorow do to so much use and lack of maintance. ANDE costs about 5.00 for 500 yards! That is only .01 for a yard, Maxima is 13.00 for 225 yards? If I can get as good of product for 3/4 less the cost, by all means I am all for it.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Ande as good as Maxima? I'm afraid I'll have to disagree here. I fished some 10 lb. Ande mainline on one spinning outfit and tied on 10 lb. Ultragree leaders. The result? Broken mainline EVERY snag. Not once did the Maxima leader break. While I realize that 10 lb main should be matched with 8 lb or less leaders, this just shows that Ande is not as strong as Maxima. I like how Ande casts etc, but it isn't just as good as Maxima. Cheaper, yes. Better, no.

Fish on........

STAY WITH MAXIMA !!!
I started steelhead fishing about 25 yrs ago
started with
ANDE fish with it for about 2 years, then I started haveing trouble with it twisting up really bad and backlashing. It would be all twisted up comeing off the spool,I had this trouble with for several spools till I quit buying it.All these years I've tried differant lines just to see,I always come back to maxima,I fish 10 lb mainline and 8 lb leader for winter fish never lost one due to line break,I use 8 lb for summer with 6 lb leaderI've broken some of these off but it was my fault.I LIKE MAXIMA...My .02 worth
