Which of these two companies makes the better rod? I have one Lamiglas and I might buy another one or maybe a G-Loomis. Which company uses better components as far as guides and reel seats go? I'm looking to buy a light steelhead and trout rod I have a couple models of each brand I'm looking at and am looking for opinions on. ------------------------------------ Lamiglas G-1321 Lamiglas G-1367 Lamiglas G-1325 or G-Loomis STR-1141S G-Loomis STR-1082S G-Loomis NR-1382 ------------------------------------ Any opinions on any of these rods? What is the best graphite for the G-Loomis' rods GL3 or IMX? By the way, what are the hours for the Lamiglas outlet in Woodland and do they have all the models or just seconds?

In my opinion, G Loomis are second to none... I have many of both and the Loomis,s are rapidly taking over. The 1141 is awesome, everyone should have one. It is light in your hands yet still has the ability to tire a decent size Steelie and let him on his way before complete exhaustion. Its an awesome Winter/Summer stick period.

I tend to agree with Bob D, GLoomis is the premier rod with Lamiglas a close second, one thing though that I have experienced is that if you break one I like Lamiglas service better, most times when I bring a rod back to them they can replace it right then if not all I've been charged for is shipping on the other hand GLoomis always seem to have to build a new half and the 2 rods I have returned cost me about $35 apiece and took about 3 weeks to get back, thats my only complaint. hope this help, good fishing

Hey Scott you should call a dealer and ask how the "new" Loomis Warrenty works. From what I hear they just got rid of your only complaint! I think you can exchange right at the dealers now! No wait...

Being a rod builder I see and fish a lot of rods. We build 1 Lamiglas for every 10 Loomis rods. Out of that small percentage that we build we get a lot of them back... broken, cracked, etc. (Esp. on the ferrel???) As for componets, they both seem pretty solid. In my opinion... whatever it's worth, I feel that anything in an IMX is AWESOME, strong, sensitive and light, but they aren't cheap. TH www.thcustomrods.com

Both make great rods, with the all around edge to Loomis. With this said, I actually prefer the selection of lighter steelhead rods that Lami has. They seem to have a larger selection of lighter, longer rods, while Loomis has better feeling medium action rods. I love the Lami 10' Herzog signature (6-10lb test) as a summer-run and float rod. Its made of Lamis Certified Pro graphite which is lower modulus than Loomis GL3 or IMX, but its light and strong. Its also got more backbone than the Loomis 1141, but will still handle a 6 lb leader during the summer. For a good Lamiglass selection check out: www.anglersworkshop.com They sell all major lamiglass components and can probably answer any other questions you might have.

The 1306 is a good rod but compare it to a loomis of the same caliber which would be the new str1083s and you will find substancial weight and sensitivity differences. Hey alot of us started out that way but as we learn we also progress. The 1306 was heavy when I bought my 1083s a couple months ago, picked up both and put the 1306 down immediatly. Its amazing the difference. Hey heres a product review: The STR1083S Loomis is quickly becoming my Fave as far as Winter fishing!!!! Got a Stradic 4000 on it. Its awesome for Winter Steelies and Silvers, Even battled Chums at Chico. 24 pound King on the Queets was at the max and maybe even a little over board for this rod though. Awesome rod at...

Thanks for the opinions guys. Do either of these companies have factory outlets in Woodland? I live in Oregon, but very close to them.

I have not had the oppertunity to fish a Loomis but have managed to destroy 2 Lamiglass rods on chums. I would vote for the G-loomis

The new Loomis "exchange" program costs $65. Return broken rod to dealer, get new one off rack for $65. This is opposed to getting it rebuilt for free, if factory "defect," or $45 for new one if not. I think this is how it works. Saves a lot of time, but for $20 more.

I have not fished with a lammi but have a friend that I fish with and he breaks his every year. Yea, they replace it just fine, but when your out on the rive that doesn't mean much. I Have fished Loomis rods, both fly and steelhead and have been very happy with their feel and durability. Lets face it steelheading is not an easy sport on gear. Most of us set the hook on a lot more rock fish and limb cod than actual steelhead and this is often times where a rod is broken. The IMX is a great rod, but as mentioned above they ain't cheap.

I had been fishing with a Lamiglass Pro-X96LCT which is a light-med. 9'6" graphite rod. I caught an occasional steelhead with it but did not really enjoy the actual fishing. I finally stepped up to the plate and purchased a Loomis IMX 1084C. I could not believe the difference in the two rods. Now I consistantly hook more fish(due to the increased sensitivity), my casting arm is not fatigued after a long day(due to a decrease in weight), but more important is that now I enjoy each and every cast. I am now confident of what I am feeling on the other end. My vote: LOOMIS IMX!...No question! Thanks to Highliner for turning me on to this rod. Hope to see you Saturday!
