A couple of weeks ago I cured some eggs with procure. I wanted to try that new wizard cure, so I cured half the eggs in wizard and half in some redd hot double stuff that I had. Well today I grabbed a bag of the wizard cured eggs out and noticed they were developing mold. The double stuff eggs didn't have any sign of mold. Is this just a fluke,or do wizard cured eggs develope mold easier? I followed the directions to a "t" including keeping the eggs covered while drying.

Hey I had the same results as you did, I also use "Double stuff". I think its the best of all the commercial stuff.

Does anybody know what the difference is between any other Pro-Cures and the magic? I just saw the magic a couple weeks ago and have yet to try it.

The mold does ot affet te eggs at all, I have had regular procured eggs develop mold also. The only times Ive\se md was wen I left the eggs in the refrigerator a longtime after they were cured. I usually seal the egs and freeze them as soon as possible.
As for the wizard cure and regular out fishing each other......... From what I observed this last fall the wizard cure blows the regular out of the water..... I dont know how well it work for steelhead but I do it kicks butt on chinook.

Is that magic cure the orange colored stuff? Maybe these products havn't been out long enough for opinions to develop.

I usualy seal my eggs in jars with the burning toilet paper method. I was planing to use the eggs that got mold by the end of the month, so I just left them in the refridgerator. I have had eggs get mold, but I was surprized at how soon the wizard eggs got mold. Oh well, they still seem to fish pretty good.

I don't know for sure, but I was told the only difference between the standard pro-cure and the Wizard is salt (wizard has it).

the wizard cre has a totally different smell to it......it kinda stinks. the make 2 colors, neon red and hot lava orange, for salmon color didnt seem to matter. I now there is more to it than just salt......why charge 13 bucks a bag if its just got salt??
Anyways, If I ever get to hit the river I will try it for steelhead and post the results.
Yall have a great day!!!!!
