If you live near Seattle, I encourage you to come out and show your support of dam removal on the Columbia River system. The Clinton sponsered hearings are today (Tues, Feb 29) at the Seattle Center Pavilion:

I am thrilled to hear that Seattle has a hearing as well about the Snake River dams! Hopefully the will of the metro area that runs the whole state will be heard. Tear those Snake dams down already! Yeah, right! Why don't you guys focus on the dams on the Elwa, and tear out some dams that actually do effect fish runs? Boy, you sure don't hear the crying about those dams like you do about the ones on the Snake. Must be too close to home for you guys. What a great deal! I help pay for your new Safeco Field, and you tear out dams on my side of the state that won't save one fish(OK, but no more than two)! Quit bothering yourself with the Snake dams and go after the commercial fishing lobby that's got its tent pitched in your backyard. Oops, I hit too close to home again. Enjoy your ferries I help fund.

Actually we did fight for, and win, removal of at least one of the Elwah damns. It's in the works. And believe me, I'd guess most on this board voted for I696 back in November.

As for subsidies - there are few occupations that get more from the federal and state [Bleeeeep!] than farmers. But can we please not turn this into something like you would see on other boards. There was actually a very good discussion about the snake damns awhile back. Just do a search or scroll down.

I'll be down at the meetings showing my support right after the Hoosiers stomp the Boilermakers.
