Hey everyone,

I'm not quite sure if this is the exact spot to post this, if it isn't then mods please feel free to relocate it.

I am looking for experiences/opinions from people that have owned a Glock 21, 22, or 17. Preferably, I am hoping people that have logged extensive range/shooting time with them opposed to those that have shot only a few mags thru it.

I used to own a couple H&K USP's (both .45), but got rid of them. I should know by Thursday if I am going to be moving onto a new job. If I do sign on with them, I will have the option of one of these three models.

Thanks,
RB

I've had a 21,17...like all Glocks they go BANG everytime. Most issues are guys with girly hands, they don't like the grips. shoot

All guns go bang but others put people in the ground a little more effectively. I had a USP Tactical 45, so size isn't really going to be an issue with the weapon

I just stumbled across that site. I was hoping this thread would aid my post count. Anyways, I'm looking for detailed experiences with accuracy, weight, and just the overall experience. I know every model has its fan boys.

The first thing you will notice when you hold a Glock is the grip angle.

Try this, eyes open, look at your target, then close your eyes, draw your unloaded pistol and aim to where your target was. Open your eyes. Where are you pointing?

Going from an HK, S&W, or a Springfield XD and moving to a Glock you will likely find that you are pointing pretty high. The Glock's grip angle is more obtuse than the standard angle of an HK, XD, or S&W.

It makes me roll my wrists forward to properly acquire the target. Personally I don't like it, so I'll stay with my XD, HK's and S&W's.

Reliability wise, Glocks are excellent, very accurate, and you can buy a grip angle reducer. Lots of accessories are available as well.

I've shot a few thousand rounds through them, mostly the model 22, as they were the primary weapon we trained with, although I was allowed to carry my S&W 4006 and 5903 on duty. We had to learn how to operate every weapon.

The three pistols you have a choice between are all full sized, and with some very minor differences, essentially the same size so it is a caliber question. For me, .45 ACP, .40 S&W, and then 9MM in that order. Bigger bullets usually stop the fight much quicker, all other things being equal.

I dumbed it down for you. Apparently not enough. There are accuracy concerns, magazine preferences and capacities, and other factors to be considered outside of the bang that go into the thought process of choosing a side arm. Especially one for duty carry when not having extensive knowledge or hands on with the weapon. I'm in the process of building the knowledge base but there is no shortcut to hands on time.

Once again, looking for experiences/opinions from people that have used these

Thanks Dogfish. I've done a lot of dry firing drills in the past.

Go to one of your better ranges that have an assortment of Guns to rent.
