Last Sunday my fishing partner had just walked a 1/4 mile in waders to fish the intake hole. As he is fishing two morons
in a glass drifit boat pull in front of him and start pulling plugs. He asked if they could pull plugs on the other 9 miles of water they are going to float. The idiot
on the oars went BUCK, he starts yelling
at my partner and starts to leave. But before he takes off,he pulled a oar out and
starts pounding the water. He yelled out "see if you catch fish now". This river is
already too crowded, we don't need asshole like that showing up.

Hey local i know what you mean.. i was fishing in the big rock hole as we call it and three guys in a driftboat rowed over acroos from me and tied up the whole hole.
I had a hard time casting over three lines
they had the hole river to fish. Guess thats what happens when you get guys from the I-5
corridor who usally fish the Cowlitzs.I Have to admit there was some guys who were good at going on down when they seen me in the hole.Think it was a GUIDE boat anyways so that why they were hogging the hole.

Hey Steely Slammer,

Not everyone that fishes the I-5 rivers from boats are assholes. I have met many Red Necks fishing from the banks on a lot of different rivers and a fair share that have boats also. Don't let it bug you, there are just as many Brown Eye's on both sides. Just your bad luck to have met a real bad one, good bet that both of these jerks are the same during the week also, and not just on the weekends.

I was on the same river yesterday and believe me these types people are there on weekdays too. I haven't fished this river for quite a while but we couldn't believe the fishing etiquette or lack thereof. I fish often enough and know that these people are on every river but it seems that Nooch gets more than there fair share of them. I guess if you fish this river you either need to bring alot of patience or be ready to discuss with every other boater that when you drift by someone you should : drift behind them - not through the hole AND IF YOU DO FLOAT THOUGH THE HOLE how about reeling up your line instead of drift fishing thru it. I had 3 or 4 boats do that yesterday. They had lots of room to go behind but they opted to go thru AND fish while doing so.

I fish from the bank myself from time to time and always give the bankies room. You have alot more river to work with while in a boat. These people either are new to fishing and don't know any better or just don't give a #!%&. Maybe the answer is... it is our society nowaday .... the problem comes from what we do to relax & unwind from the tensions of today... go fishing .... then you get there before dawn and your 4th in line to go down with 6 behind you and 5 of these people are listed above. I don't really have an ending or answer but when I go fishing I assume I'll run into a fisherman or two that think they own the river and make sure they don't ruin my day. on the water. If you let that happen ... well I guess that's why there's that other post topic about "Guns on the Hoh".

I know what you mean. Been fishing the nooch for 12 yrs. now and have seen things get steadily worse. My brother and I have been holeshot more times than we can remember and have had guys float by and cst right on top of our plugs. We just look at each other and shake our heads. We give any fisherman we come across the water they are fishing because it's the right thing to do and because we expect the same in return. It's a shame that there are so many guys with no consideration for others that are fishong the Nooch now. The only thing we can hope for is that we get more fish into the myriad of rivers there are in this state and that it takes the pressure off of the Nooch so that it gets the "bad guys" back to the rivers that they normally fish. Keep your tip up!
