Coaches that do this are just lame and cheap.

Not one kid came in low. Not one. Shoulder pad to the knee and this big boy goes down. Only problem is that he would land on you - but it would get the job done.

While I agree it may seem lame. White Salmon is a 1A school, if you know anything about 1A schools in Washington State and their football programs, you would know that it is common for most of the players to play both sides of the ball.

So its like a step above 8 man? Makes it a bit more acceptable if they are fielding short handed teams. It's OK to run big boys in the pros (e.g. The Fridge etc), but in HS ball a lot of coaches have an unwritten word / bond not to do this.

I played both ways in HS (DB (C, FS), WR, Split Back) and I would have HATED to come up and try to stop that dude. The only thing you can do is hit him in the lower leg, hope it wobbles him a bit and hang the F' on until several re-enforcements arrive. Dude is a HOSS

I graduated from a 1A school on the eastside and we all played both ways to include special teams (I think we had like 61 in our graduating class), not uncommon to have several freshman suit up for varsity. I actually believe it is one class above 8 man but I could be wrong. We actually would play White Salmon as a non-league game, talk about a [Bleeeeep!] hole. Gravel track (some sort of red rock), rocks on the football field and you always had to run for the bus as they would be throwing rocks at us.

If he has enough athletic ability to play RB (although it is probably just walk up the middle). With his size, if he got into a program that could convert some of that fat into muscle and possible increase his stamina/speed he may turn into a decent NT.

I see no issue with this beast being used this way. In a small school like White Swan is ( Yakima Indian Res. ) bust out the big gun!

no different if he was a 7' center and power dunking on every play in basketball.

every team uses any player in any way to win. that is the object. this kid is nothing more than a young and bigger Fridge Parry. W.S.H.S. needs to ride this beast to a state title!

looks like very little athleticism to the load and pretty easy to take down, if he had any sort of physique to him he'd carry 6 or 7 into the endzone. marshawn carries more nfl players on him for more yards than this tank does.

it's not about athleticism at all. at least in this case. it's based on torque and strength.

take for example a bull dozer, not fast by any means, doesn't turn real fast either. yet it can lay waste to a building or move alot of earth with ease.

All I saw was mass and momentum. Not as much torque or strength.

White Swan HS is a B-8 school on the Yakama Indian Reservation, there is 8 players on the field. White Salmon is a 1-A school, 11 players per side in football.

Kid doesn't have much athleticism, but he does have size. Good for the coach for trying something new, but wouldn't he make a better left tackle, or full-back? I'm sure the tackling players are worried about getting stomped on, or fell on.

What is way more interesting to me, because I am a numbers guy is the coach who never punts and onside kicks every time:
