Biggest springer I ever seen was on my line in the Elwha. Hooked it on a burgandy yarn fly. That fish was the wildest thing I ever hooked just from the arial show alone. I was no match with my 12# test. Looked to be in the #60 class (flying weight). It is eternally etched in my mind and my friends who was with me on that day. I still shake my head when I think of that one.......WOW

The biggest spring I've seen is the 56 pictured in the Hoh River Resort's store. It was caught by a client of guide George Rose on that river in the mid 80's. Rumor has it that the woman who caught the slab was vacationing from California and had never fished before.

I saw an absolutely massive fish in the adult holding pen at the upper Kalama River hatchery back in 85 or 86. The hatchery worker told me that it was a hen that weighed in at 76 pounds.

Now I was only a young buck of sixteen then, but that fish sure as Hell looked every ounce of it.

Fish on...

Todd.
