Went to the Carbon...fished my 5 1/2 hours...only saw 6 others out there...Water level was up a little...color was stained brown with good visability!

There were a couple trucks at the bridge where it crosses the Puyallup...a couple cars up near the hatchery...I fished in the middle...just in Orting!

I spoke with a guy who has fished the Carbon for 50 years...raised in the Orting area...he was drift fishing...said there's no fish. He said what so many people are saying on the rivers...the rivers are in trouble! He said he normally can get 20-30 fish in a season...this year only a few!

Talked with another guy that uses PINK and GREEN glo Maxima line so's he can see the line in the water. Cool idea! He had a couple rods on his bike, rigged with bobbers...seemed to know what he was doing. He said the fish haven't shown up yet too!!! He was thinkin' like I was, that the rain would have brought them in!!!

Nice day out...just had a few sprinkles...floated and drifted...tryed a spoon...lost it on the rocks!!! Nice movement in the water though!!!

I'm focusing on reading the water now!!! I need to learn that one!!! The old timer had a good spot. Big logs over in the water...boulders edging out from the bank...Quietish flow! I stayed out of the water for the most part this time...didn't want to scare any fishies if they were there!

When are these Nates gonna get here???

well...hello fishin girl, i went fishin on the carbon last sat and sunday, sat i hooked and landed one, and sunday i hooked 3 landed 2 all females..no bucks..ive yet to land a buck..hmmmmm.. and i went out on tuesday after work.. hooked and landed a smaller one about 5 pounds she got off close to shore..but she was a tired fish..started thrashin in the watyer up next to the bank, but its all good, was a chromer tho, as were the others, also caught about a 8 inch whitefish on a pink corkie..how weird is that? it barely had a mouth big enough for my hook, well if you got any questions you can email me at narnia75aol.com, we could go fishin sumtime or whatever..im not a master stealheader..jus started this last saturday, the 20th i do believe. but i read the water and try the most likely stuff..cuz they are trout and i used to fish for them in idaho..wasnt very succesful over there in the bigger river..but thats another story of its own..well have a good one..

That was how it was Monday. No fish then either. Friend tried it Friday, zippo. I think it's time to try for the big ones. Sturgeon! Put up the caster for a week or two.

I HAVE FISHED THE MOUTH OF THE CARBON THE LAST 2 WEEKENDS, ON 2-20 SAW A COUPLE OF SMALL FISH JUMP NEXT TO THE BANK ON THE WEST SIDE. I WAS ON THE EAST SIDE.SATURDAY THE 26TH I WAS ON THE WEST SIDE FROM 6:30 AM FOR 3 PLUS HOURS, THE ONLY THING I SAW WAS 2 DRIFT BOATS LAUNCHED ABOVE THE HIGHWAY BRIDGE. NO FISH, NO PEOPLE DOWN HERE.
NEED SOME MORE RAIN TO RAISE WATER AND ADD SOME COLOR.
I WILL BE OUT AGAIN SUNDAY UNLESS I GET DOWN TO THE SATSOP; LIKE I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR OVER A MONTH. I MISSED THE GUIDE THE 1ST TRY. HE CAUGHT 7 FISH ALL BY HIMSELF.
WHOA BE ME.

well here is my sunday report. fished from the bridge by the soldiers home down stream. hooked and 8" steelie, got off, for shame on me. had a good stike down the levee road behind the new school contrustion with a 1/4 oz crodille spoon.
from there it went all down hill. went down to the hyway bridge and fished to the mout with out a sign. serveral other fisher-people, but no fish. water was excellelant, slight brown tint, water was up and running. fished all day, 6:30a to 5:00p, boy was my wife pissed when i got home. hey, no hen pecked her, i spent saturday at home, it was her birthday, no fishing for me.

thnaks, anyone else been out on our local waters?

Elm- (this is all in fun- seems to be a few oversensative types on this board).- "With no sign"? That was the problem- if you had put a sign on your hook telling the fish to "bite here", U might have hooked a bigger steelie than 8 inches. And what's w/ the Crockadile spoon? Are U feedin' Crocks in there?! (jk- I know; lame)

well so much for the truth to you backbouncer1, from now on they will all be 8 pounder's, no more jokes. you should have seen that runt hit and jump, just like he had a bad day at the office, cleared the water by a foot with the spinner sideways in his mouth.
no joking, did anyone else see, feel or smell anything in local water.
i read about throwing spoons in deep cover on monday, so i was ahead. and yes a bronze crodadile spoon with an orange stripe got a hit. just barely kept it off the rocks, came to a stop, and i pulled back, then bang-bang it was gone. should had hit it harder the first time.
thanks; elmtree

I just got over that flu thing too. Must be going around. I read Bill Herzog - Steelhead Drift Fishing. Is the bridge open?

I read a COUPLE of nice fishin' books in bed too!!!

The Narrows has only TWO lanes open...it's still a mess, if that's what you mean!!! One lane west...one lane east! Yuck!!! I guess a propane truck was involved!!! I looked at the WSDOT site at the pics...still looks pretty messy!!!
