Received my copy of "Concise Explanatory Statement" for the adoption of sport fishing rules today and it was not good.As you all probably already know, the state adopted the proposal to increase the wild steelhead anual limit to 10 on the Quillayute system. The opposition to this proposal was extremely overwhelming but yet the state still went through.140 to 53 was the tally of letters sent in opposing the propsal. One letter reads"Live in Forks and do not want Robert Ball representing the town for the releasing of wild steelhead.Guides don't understand that if we do not take our share the Indians will" another writes "we want to decide whether or not to release wild steelhead.Let Bob Ball and his following let them go.Forks depends on tourist dollars.Let's get back to healthy fish management" It's testimonies like these and actions like the state's that I wonder why we have any wild fish left at all. What is going on with our so called managers of the fish that they can keep destroying our runs? What can we do?Somebody please fill me in.
