I have what appears to be an "ordinary" release with standard sized jaws. I use a D-loop and am thinking that accuracy and maybe even ease of use woyld improve if the release had significantly jaws. Any thoughts on this?

oops. Significantly SMALLER jaws.

Releases aren't a new technology. If larger jaws worked better every co. would build em that way. My scott's have small jaws. Single caliper releases work good too with out "jaws".

Scott makes the best available IMO and standard size jaws work beautifully.



I would focus more on clearance and timing.

The axle to axle length determines how sensitive the release is. Long ATA length bows can be shot with fingers so would be more forgiving than a short ATA bow. The string loop was invented to move the release off the bowstring when ATA's startd to get shorter. The string loop pinches the release more on the shorter bows. Even more so if you have a longer draw with a shorter bow.

Brace height plays a big part too.

Imho the string loop was invented to prevent pinching , wear & tear on the bow string itself..
Ata? , brace length longer is more forgiving. I shot fingers and bare bow for 30 years before I moved to pins and a release. Lots of good releases out there I shoot a truball. So what ever you feel comfortable with, some like straps some handhelds? Practice practice.....Os
