BB, yeah yeah yeah broken record right? Let me guess Andy has another question about his business, same [Bleeeeep!] different day... Well suck it up once more and hear me out.
I am doing fairly well with my products and have had some great success so far. Bob D from the board has purchased my products, and as far as I know is happy with them, Bob help me out here. I ask you guys questions becuase I beleive that you as whole probably can give me better advice than any others. I need to know what catches your eye on a product? Is it the name? Is it the packaging or is it the product? Paul owner of Beau-Mac Enterprises sells millions upon millions of Cheaters every season, yet you find them in the tackle shops in little jars or boxs. No package what so ever, no names, no fancy logo, just the product. Yet he sells countless numbers of these damn little drift bobbers. People glady hand over the .79 for a spin and flash Cheater without even taking a second look. What grabs your eyes with this product? I am not out to make millions of dollars, but would like to make some cash. My products are good products. They use Top quality materials that you all know. I am jsut curious on what would make my products sell more. I spend alot of time on the packaging, and am curious if I am wasting my time with the package itself. Hell I guess I am jsut a curious kid. Any help will be appreciated...
Thanks, Andy

Make your product with the best material possible. But make it affordable and easily accessable for the average working fisherman. Remember that word of mouth is your best sales tool. Get your product out in the rivers dont worry about the cash right away becouse it will come in due time. Fishermen are a very loyal group and if they like a product they will always use it. And we love to tell others about our success even more when using a new product. Cutomer service is the rule keep them happy no mater what the price.I would not worry about the packaging, infact the less packaging the less litter for the river. You could stress envirmental friendliness as a sales tool. I bet the Canucks would like to try some of your product the have alot of bait restrictions on thier rivers. Good Luck.

Hey Andy,
I cant really tell what it is that your selling through your Post- and the only other thing Ive read written by you is your response to the "How Many Kid Fishers out there?" Post. I realise its fishing stuff but what exactly?
Im no expert but Ive worked in both a beggining and now succsessful buisness as well as a fishing store. Through these two Jobs Ive learned a little bit about theory behind a name and packaging. Ive also been able to observe what sells and what doesnt through my current job at a fishing store.
As far as packaging and a name, simplicity and classyness seem to be where its at. One thing you might want to consider is P.O.D. -or a point of display. Thats where you have a display with all your products on it or just a bunch of one. All your advertising is on the display. Usually POD's are small enough to be placed on a counter. There are a number of benifits to a POD- its easy for the shops to restock, and if a nice one is made, is very eye catching. Also your able to fit more info on one than just on a little package (more informative).
Things in the store I work at always seem to sell better. Like I said I dont know exactly what it is your selling.
For me personaly- a nice looking package and sturdy looking product is what catches my eye. I also like it when a company stands behind their product 100%, seeing that on the package is something I like.
Hope that was some help- Fun Fishin- Josh

Quality and price are the two biggest things shoppers look for. If a product is made crappy, no one wants it. If a product works great but costs an arm, leg, and chest, no one will buy it. Ever see many people use real gold plated lures? Not very often, yet gold is one of the best reflective metals out there. Does not tarnish. One reason people don't use it is cost. Skunkmaster has it right. Next you have to keep a supply up. Run out often, lose customers. The best think to do is follow the wading rule. DON'T GET IN OVER YOUR HEAD! If you do, you get sucked under. A business takes time and patients. And money, unfortunatly.

Hey Andy,
I checked out your site a while back and I also couldn't tell what it was you were trying to sell. I know by your previous posts you're trying to sell pre-tied rags. A picture and/or an explanation of what a "rag" is would really help.
By the way, Paul, the owner of Beau-Mac, passed away last year.
