Hey guys,
I don't really want to go looking for my fish and game regulations so I will ask someone who might just know off of the top of their heads. When does the Skookumchuck close? I know these fish are late, realy late fish. they are still coming through the lower Chehalis in Aberdeen. Is there any other coastal rivers open past the end of the month? Just curious how could one try and get the seasons a bit longer. I know they are trying to protect the wild fish but there are still plent of fresh hatchery fish coming into rivers like the Wynoochee. Who makes up the closure dates, is there anyway that we as a group could vote on dates for next year? I would still like to be able to fish the Wynoochee in April, and still have a decent chance of hooking a nice hatchery fish and some nice nates. Just wondering.

Thanks,
Andy Matthews

Last I read it closed end of April. If I'm wrong I will post a note later tonight.

Andy,

Don't look for the ability to vote on dates anytime soon(probably never). The reason most rivers close at the end of March is for 2 reasons: 1) Peak spawning times for many wild fish in our area is late March through May-even June! The fish are vulnerable and don't exist in high enough numbers to have a fishery on them and, 2) Smolts are migrating primarily in April and May. Incidental catch of the little guys would be greatly increased during this time and just hurt our fishing 2-3 years down the road.

How's the new vessel working?
