My favorite time of the year to fish!! Problem is where are the normal numbers of fin? There seems to be a definite shortage of natives in the rivers I have been fishing. Normal 4-6 fish days are down to 2 at best! Has anybody else been experiencing this?! For instance-Broodstock on the Wilson? I havent been hearing any great reports-a few but there should be a ton of fish in there for this time of year! I really dont want to believe it's me, but I had to ask. Has anybody else been having a "bit of a time" ?

The siletz has been kicking out fish for me. 7 landed for 12 hook ups n 2 trips, 3 wild fish and 4 palmer creek fish. last moday we landed 4 in not so great of conditions. The water was a little high with poor visibilty. All fish landed have been chromers, all but one have been 2 salt fish ( 6 to 8 lbs).
Personally I think they are just running late this year, and they are real spread out. No big pushes of fish like last year. From everyone Ive talked to said its been real consistant, 3 to 4 fish a day.
If I was you I wouldnt give up yet.
By the way the sumers are starting to show in some Willamette tribs.

Crayfin- It hasn't been great but there are fresh nates to C&R. I drifted 4th Br. to 1st on the Nestucca Sun. sunrise to noon and we got into 4 nates, chromers. The broodstock returns have been a disappointment so far. Hope it improves.- The Springer fishing in the Willamette has picked up pretty well Sat.& Mon. Don't know how long the 6000+ quota will hold- get out there! - Steve

I fish the North Coast rivers also and have noticed a decline in returning Natives. The lack of returning Wilson River Broodstock was disapointing. In recent years I have seen fresh fish all the way through April so maybe there is still hope. Possibly the Natives are running late.
