My wife's grade-school class have raised 200 Chinook fingerlings. They're about two and half inches now and come from good UW stock. They need to pick a site to release them that's at max one hour from Seattle. Any thoughts on a site? I was thinking mouth of Tolt...

Pick something eternally closed to all angling and from the same system as UW. Maybe one of those creeks that run into Lk Washington. Thornton Crk perhaps? You could release them right at the bridge in the park at Matthews Beach.

I think an hours ride may be pushing it regarding their survival unless you have both temperature control and aeration. As Hoh said, I'd pick a stream within the Lake Washington drainage with easy access to transport and release the fish.

With 200 juveniles, you're looking at 1-4 adults tops so you want to maximize their chances. No river net fisheries to intercept the adults in Lk. Wa streams, as well (although there's Herchel and his buddies).

You may want to call the Mill Creek WDFW office for some advice. Ask for Kurt Kramer. He's the district fish biologist for this area. Good Luck!
