Have read with interest the threads on line --on hooks -- reels etc. Now to that last piece the connection from leader to main line. Question is what type of knot is best used with 12lb test when tying to a swivel and what type of swivel is recommended. This seams to be the week link I can sharpen hooks, replace leaders, replace beat-up line however I always have doubt about the connection I have made. Any recommendations?? Thanks

Rusty,
Check out Marty`s site in the knots section www.steelheader.net
the cinch knot is the one you want to see.
I always take the lne through one more time at the end though. I`ll scan a illustration of it and E-mail it to you. Tony

The cinch knot tied with a double line, aka "River's Inlet knot," is the one I have settled on as a knot to connect my mainline to the swivel. This is a really tough one to break.

That ones called a trilene knot with the extra wrap. Stronger than the clinch. http://www.steelheader.net/knots/trilene_knot.htm

Here is a link to the one Hoh uses http://www.steelheader.net/knots/double_clinch.htm

Both are excellent knots for connecting mono to connectors.

In swivels I always use the black barrel swivel. I do not recommend the cheaper style "danielson" except for hanging your sliding lead on.

got to run
tight lines
