I don't know how many of you fish the Klickitat, but I heard It was opening April 1st for three days out of the week. The usual opening is the 1st of May for 2 days a week. Checked the WDFW page and didn't see any thing.

Disregard. Just found the regs on WDFW. It is as I thought. Looks like It's going to be a great run this year. Give it a shot if anyone gets out this way.

Sounds good. The river is in pretty good shape. Not too much run off from the mountain yet, so not too high and fairly clear.
I may even know your friend's Dad. I live along the river myself.
Good luck!

Don't forget the river is only open below fisher hill bridge and that only gives you a few river miles to fish. the wind river is getting 10 times the fish and may be a better spot to fish if you are coming a long way

I've never made it up the wind river to fish. No excuse, I just don't know the river as well. Any suggestions on where to fish the Wind, and is drifting eggs pretty much the standard on the Wind as it is on the Klickitat? I've been thinking about getting up there this spring.

Hey Leadhead, what type of fishery is during the spring? I know that the early summer has steelies and the bright kings start coming in during August. How well do you know this river? I am thinking of hiring a guide in August to get to know the river.

Spike You are pretty much restricted to spring Chinook, not much else in the river then. Don't see many stealhead until later on. The upper Klickitat doesn't open until June 1st I believe. Can't really drift on the lower part. Pretty much bank fishing below Fisher Hill and trolling in the mouth.
I know a guide who knows the river very well. Let me know if you are Interested.
