I went fly fishing with some friends out of Chico CA. at a place called Eagle lake. They have to wear their fishing licence in full view I.E pinned to their coats. A bunch of them have these hats that have a deal like a
sheet music holder that sticks like 2 feet above their heads... They put their fishing licence in that. The F&G guy says "I wish you would not do that, it looks stupid" Their reply... "your right, it does!!!!"

Oregon uses the SS# to located dead beat dads. There is a federal law which allows this, however Oregon is using it as an identifier which may not be legal. I punched holes in my SS# on my license As for the fake numbers I tried that and it was rejected I don't know why.

Wow, quite the reaction. I don't know this for sure but I believe the requirement for the the SSN is related to the computerized licensing program which will be in place next year. If any of you has ever fished in Oregon or Idaho recently, you know that this system is a real timesaver. But to have a robust database, they need a unique key to search on. Since there may be multiple Joe Smiths out there, the SSN is the best option. That or it really is part of the government conspiracy to keep us from fishing. Oops, gotta run the black helicopters are coming. -- Nico

Ok if they need an I.D. number then why not a drivers liscence number? our SS numbers are for that use only not an I.D. number for every moron to use. I think it's a retarded idea!!!

If you look at a Social Security Card, it says"Not to be used for identification".It is issued by the Federal Gov't.How can the State or anyone require it for I.D. isn't that a violation of a federal law?This is getting even further out of hand!
