Has anyone had any trouble getting Lamiglas to honor their warranty on 1000 series rods? A friend of mine broke the rod inside the cork handle of his 1306-T. He was pulling plugs and broke it when a fish hit and he tried to take it out of the rod holder. The cork is not damaged (just a hairline crack where the break occured) so it is obvious it was not shut in a car door or something. He sent the rod to Lamiglas hoping that they would replace or repair the broken section. They sent him a letter stating it would be fixed at a cost of $57.00 plus $10.00 shipping. He sent a letter back to Lamiglas stating that he owns several Lamiglas rods and he has never sent any of them in for repair or replacement, and that he felt the charges were unjustified. They recently returned the rod to him with the break apparently repaired, and a bill for the $67.00. What to do????

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

If he didn't OK the repair estimate, he's not obligated to pay it. That doesn't mean they won't send him a bill, then a late notice, then a "we're sending you to collection" notice.

Have him call Lamiglas and tell them he has no intention of paying for a repair he didn't OK. See waht they say. I'd wager they'll let it slide.

Fish on.........

I've never had a problem. But I've never broken the butt section before either. They've replaced my broken tip with a new one on many occasions.

It takes a very special effort to break a butt section, this is probably why Lami is handing him an invoice. If he wanted to be a pest I bet he could get it done for free.

Ive had to pay the last two times i broke my lamiglas.First time it was the tip section and the second time it was the butt section right where they go together. Had a big king right at the boat and he decided to go under the boat and it snaped.I sent them a note with the rod explaining what happened and they said $50.00.
