I was wondering how much difference it makes if your mainline is visible with a leader that is low vis.Do any of you think a high vis mainline will spook fish? Thanks in advance.

In most situations it won't matter. However, if the water is absolutely gin clear the hi vis mainline could distract some fish from bait focus, or even slightly discourage more spook prone fish, even with 30" drift leaders and 45" plug leaders. However, this is such a small percentage of your situations that the benefits should far outweigh any slight negatives. Steve

I fished the Sky in low summer conditions and had no problem with the line in question. Even in the middle of the afternoon, we'd hook 8 or 9 fish with high visibility main line.

I honestly don't believe it makes any difference. In fact in situations where a boat is involved it can help.
I've had great days in gin clear water, with fluorescent green line (clear leader mat'l).
Where it can help in a boat is by allowing the person running the boat to see the line easier, thus controlling the drift of the boat better to eliminate line drag, thus getting a more natural presentation.

Another ? How short of leader would you go before your high vis. mainline would play a roll in it all.
