Greetings, I am interested in anyone's experiences with attracting bulls using scent. My concern is whether or not using a scent to attract a bull will disrupt or spook the cows in the area. I want to use an attractant scent, but not if it will run the cows into the next county. In my experience, the cows wander in while I still have good shooting light, but the bull(s) don't get their ass in gear until its too late. I would like to use the scent upwind of my stand, and catch him as he walks by. Also, is there anyone out there that sells a Roosevelt elk scent? Thanks, Ken

I have used the stuff Evo mentioned, now I use a wafer attached to my pack. My experience is bitter/sweet. I feel you loose the sense of detecting oncoming animals by their smell because of the way you smell, but I feel the cover sent aspect out-weighs it. I also feel my sense of hearing the animals moving through the Oly Pen jungle is most important. Keep the wind in your face and good luck.

Thanks to All, Found the moccasin joe website and local vendors. I plan on using this in conjunction with tree stand and ground blind. I have learned the hard way that trying to stay 'sweat free' while boot hunting all day in sept. does not work for me! Blinds, stands and scent killing products and clothing have proved successful. My intent is to place scent upwind of where my stand is, in hopes that bulls will walk by in search of cows in heat. If anyone has any experience or advice, let me know. There is always room to learn. Ken

I haven't done much with elk... I'm a bit skeptical still as I'm usually hunting bulls that are with cows. I suspect if I was hunting satelite bulls, I'd feel a little different about being upwind of a herd with scent...
But the doe in heat scent has produced some entertaining situations for me.. In 2 different scenario's I've had bucks come trotting in, never big bucks but forky's and I was upwind of the deer... Kinda seemed like it was the first time they ever smelled some dirty ass because they were careless as I've ever seen.

Interesting, Last season I had cows around, but no bulls, maybe the cows were 'late bloomers'? I whacked a cow the next to last day I could hunt, rather than break out my tag sauce recipe. I'm hunting the same area, will look at trail cam photos and decide what to do then. Had some smaller bucks on film, I bet they would come in on hot doe scent, even in Sept. After all, when you're young, and dumb, little brain thinking will get your a$$ in a jam every time......

Hot Elk is my personal favorite. We brought bulls in on a string downwind. .....Os
