A few weeks ago I made a post titled The Big Picture. I explained how overpopulation was at the root of many of mans environmental problems. Many of you seemed to think that proper management could cure everything. I was speaking of the worlds population on a global basis. That also includes the state of Washington.
I was reading the editorial in the May 4-18 Fishing and Hunting news and there it was in black and white. The point I was trying to get across on my last post but with specifics to the state of Washington.
Hunters, fishers preparing for battle to keep land public. By: Joel Shangle Washington editor of Fishing and Hunting News. I encourage you all to read this and take it to heart the furture of your sport depends on it!
I don't think Joel will mind if I quote some of his article. Here is some food for thought.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the the statewide population will double by the year 2050.
There will be enough Washingtonians to fill 29 cities the size of Tacoma or Spokane. The states population has jumped 40%in the last 30 years.
Many organizations fighting to secure public lands for future use are under the control and influence of anti-hunting groups.
"You won't be able to hunt or fish here, but the view from the 15th tee box is to die for."
What can you do? Join the fight to secure public lands. Be very carful and take a close look at the organization. Make sure the organizations philosophy reflects you own.

EastCoast, please be aware that Fishing and Hunting News, is locally more lovingly known as Fishing and Hunting Lies...... They are at best, guessing on run timing and plant returns. If you truly want to fish Washington successfully, learn to know some locals in each vacinity you wish to fish. Only then will you get accurate information on the local fishery timing. Once again, I wish to suggest that our sport is called fishing....not catching.... Spend your time carefully, enjoy the solitude of a non?-producing river without the crowds, and remember how sweet it is. It won't be long and we'll be like the Japanese, fishing from stocked ponds within the city, not able to eat the catch because of sheer overpopulation pollution. They've even created a robotic fish, capable of biting a baited hook and fighting you. .............Ouch!
