you know whats funny about Microsoft? i have a HP Compaq DC7100 that runs XP Pro, Microsoft announced that April 8th it was ending support for XP and everyone lost their minds, i know a couple people that went and took a pirated copy of Windows, and started over... thats when things got interesting..
i told them DO NOT use pirated copies of Windows, because each security update actually contains tools that will seek out and find if it is pirated or OEM, you might get 6 months out of a pirated copy before your system crashes, pirated means stolen, not a copy of an OEM disk that colleges use... since that time, my XP computer has updated 6 times, same Tuesday as it always did, and their computers have crashed 6 times and completely screwed everything up, then they come back and say "i should have listened to you"... this is the main reason im not wanting to really get into computer anything, because someone always thinks they can do it better than the next, and all that does is drive up costs and creates a giant confusion in computer science to the general public... there is 1 way to do it, and that is the right way, end of story...
oddly enough, these forums, and alot of you guys right here, are what made me as good as i am right now... no, im no Parker, or DD, or Mark Zuckerberg, but i hold my own, and can do things that some or alot of cant, all because of you fine gents, thanks for that
as far as Mac's, yeah, they are great, i used to have a G4 a long time ago, but i gave it away because it was out dated and i just wanted something new to mess with... but that HP i have, has litterally been on the last 10 years, ive only turned it off for the updates to fully install, other than that, it stays on 24/7/365, and has not had an issue at all HW wise, it will crap out im sure, but oh well, i have 3 other lap tops and an Acer tower i use now anyways...
what i like about PC's, is how familiar i am with them now, 20 years ago i would be looking at it and going WTF, now, i can fully take apart my Inspiron 1720 all the way down to the board, i can do the same with the Toshiba's and other Dell i have as well..
and for that, i owe a thank you to both DD and Parker, see what happens when the right motivational tactic is applied? i went from knowing nothing, to running circles around 90 percent of the public all because of people like you.... and ODH...
so thanks guys, i appreciate it
Rev, that would be in violation of the Computer Misuse Act, and im not Edward Snowden, and honestly dont want to get murdered by CIA goons, so i will just leave the leaks up to Wiki...
