Are you going up to Campbell river to fish the "Campbell River" or are you going to Campbell River to fish salt water like most do. I was up there last year with my boat for three days in mid July. We hit it just wrong, no one was catching fish, not even the guides. For saltwater you had better have downriggers, it is probably a waste of time if you don't. Alot of the same things that work in puget sound work up there. Army truck hootchie 42 inches behind a large hot spot flasher is a local favorite. Large plugs, cut plug hearing, coyote spoons, really anything a fish can mistake for a herring will work. The biggest callenge of the area is the current. When I was there, everyone was fishing at the lighthouse which is best on the incoming & slack tide. On an outgoing tide, we ran north through Seymor Narrows. There are 2 bays on the east side and there is supposed to be good fishing along the clifs just past the second bay on the outgoing tide. The fish usually hold in the 100 foot area although the water is much deeper. But the bay itself is closed to fishing. Watch it if you go thru the narrows. The current runs faster than deception pass, there is a whirlpool on the south east side that I hit flush and it feels like a gigantic pothole, and I sure would not want to be in there when one of those giant cruse ships are going through. Here are some links for some more good info.
