I'm not a big soccer fan, but my son really wanted to play this year so
we got him on a team in bremerton... This was not an easy
commitment. It has been 3 nights a week at practice and a game
every Saturday during the peak of coho season and the start of
Razor clam season...



Today was the second to last game and even though we had to forfeit
because we only had 7 players show up, we split up both teams and
had a scrimmage in the mud anyway... the kids all had a ball getting
wet and dirty...







next week is the last game of the year and I'm gonna miss it... I've
never been so proud than watching him play the game he loves.

Right on Piper. I have all daughters and we are heavily involved in soccer. I coach all 3 of them and it's been every night and Saturday at the fields. Cuts way into hunting and fishing but I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I played for 10 years on the same team. The Redmond Roadrunners. I loved it!

Both our kids played club, High School, and into college. Games we fun but it was also a (we were lucky) nice group of parents to enjoy the games with.

Took a big investment in time, took away from "my" activities, but lots of quality time with the family.

Speaking of the mud, my brother played football in the Sacramento area. They really enjoyed the game or two, at the end of the season, in the mud. Slipping, sliding, but nobody got hurt.

Good on you Dad! Those are tough conditions.

I too was never into soccer my son now 11 has been playing last 5? years i think. But him playing has turned my perspective--I have joined in on coaching and I would not want it any other way--fishin--ya I can do that but I do not want to miss any of his games--the kids love having their parents and grandparents at the games. There is a boy on the team I have never seen his parents at a practice or a game--that really pisses me off cause the kid really has talent.

We have a game today and I am a bit torn since it is RIGHT WHEN SEAHAWKS PLAY

We were pretty lucky this year, the only Sunday game was on the week that the Hawks were on Monday night football...

I've got two playing club soccer, girls U13 and boys U16. Both train 3 nights a week so I am at the fields Mon-Thurs. Both play Sat or Sundays and some weekends both days. Its a huge commitment for Mom/Dad and the players too. They don't want to give it up and I don't want them too either. Getting to watch them improve, grow and mature has been a great thing. Also, getting to watch your 11 year old daughter bang home two goals from 20 yards out to win the State Cup a couple years ago was one of the proudest days I have had. I have seen it all from great plays to parents you would not believe, and it has been fun all the way.

Like DB said, it is a big commitment but some wonderful memories. Our daughter's team won State once, with an 11 girl team. Dedication.
