anybody out there know anything about the steelhead fishin on the south fork of the stilly. Is there much of a run? New to area.New to drift fishin. Lookin for place to start, thanks.

Being a fly fisherman, I usually concentrate on the North Fork, but I can recall some folks swearing that the South Fork had more summmer steelhead than the North. That said, I would concentrate on the water below Canyon Creek. A boat or raft helps as access on the South Fork below Granite Falls is becoming increasingly difficult. Good Luck

Sorry to hear about the demise of the South Fork's steelhead. There used to be a small native run of summer steelhead in Canyon Creek, but the fish that were introduced above there were Skamania stock (in fact I think they were also stocked in Canyon Creek itelf), the same fish that are stocked on the North Fork above Deer Creek. There are still good numbers of sea-run cutthroat in the lower part of the river.
