Would like to try floating the upper Sky, Goldbar to Sultan this weekend. I've never been down this stretch before and was hoping I could get a little insight on the run in respect to potential problem areas. River flows are ranging from 3500 - 4200 cfs. I remember earlier posts indicating a tricky log jam at the lower end of this float. Was hoping to get more recent information if possible. Thanks in advance.

I floated it back on July 3rd and it wasn't too bad. The only troubles with the logjams down by the Wallace were if you got caught in any of the back eddies that want to spin you into the piles and pin you. Stay left and you'll be fine.

Floated it last Saturday (7/8). Suggest you put in at High Bridge (Big Eddy). After you go under the rail road bridge you'll encounter your fastest water. Just ride the "V", no rocks in this stretch. You'll then enter a great pool. Saw one Steelhead there but missed it. After that pool tails out stay river left cuz river right is a bolder garden. After that it's a piece of cake, just read your water like normal. The big log jam has recently blown apart and no longer is a concern. Lots of smolt from Reiter in this section so if your fishing bait, be quick on the trigger otherwise they'll swallow it and hooking mortality goes way up. Good Luck!
