Has anyone fished the Elwha or the Lyre lately?

No. However I tried the Forks area rivers earlier this week. Saw a few caught in the bobber water by the ponds. Seemed to be off the bite and somewhat spooky. It gets a little frustrating watching your offering go right in front of their mouths and have them ignore it. I've been taught to avoid this type of water and stick to the whitewater holes. I did try a few holes with some whitewater. I need to either spend more time finding and fishing the whitewater or learn how to master the art of bobber fishing. I bet the fish will be more active with a little rain come September/October.

Give the Elwha and Lyre a try. I've never fished the Lyre. Is there any whitewater up in the canyon in either of these rivers?

Chris, if you are into fly fishing for trout, the Elwah between the dams in the evening has been great.

Cool, I have been up to the first dam and so how do you get to the other dam? What flys?

Chris, turn south to the national park just east of the bridge where the Elwah crosses 101. Best flies lately for me have been adams, blue dun, and chartreuse soft hackle (all #16 or smaller). Fish holding water pretty much anywhere you can get to the river. Best the last hour before dark.
