Bison don't roundup like cattle. Cattle are rather docile; tend to amble and spread out. Bison herd up tight and charge in numbers with extreme prejudice. Once they break out, there isn't much besides shooting that can be done. This is why they shoot instead of round-up when Bison wander outta Yellowstone and into free range country. It pisses off the tree-huggers something fierce, but what else are you going to do? Catch and mobile pen em' Mr. Tree Hugger? Go for it, I'd like to see you try.

I won't question actually pulling the trigger here, but that Sheriff shouldn't have let the Rancher bring in his own men for the job. It should have been handled by SWAT. That's what they do in cities like Detroit or Cleveland when they have performed a White Tail culls on golf courses in the middle of the night. Residents rarely know about the culls, so it stays out of the papers for good reason.

They earned their Free Range Status in my book.

But just another incompetent performance by the people in charge.

Yes, we all know what they were doing in upstate New York.
Bison meat.

It's just the spirit of the breakout.
Wild beasts seeking freedom.
Too bad that they were dispatched by The Gang Who Couldn't Shoot Straight.
