wow!
Is the lower, bowling alley area a good bet, or should I try further up? I am dying to get one on a fly before the season is over.
Are you fishing the pool water or the faster stuff?

Hey Steelhead master. I have never fished the Washougal and would love to give it a try. I would like any help on where to go and how to get there you can give me. If you show me the river I will take you for a drift up here some day.

Kalamabama looks like your in the same predicament I am. I am learning the Washougal. I live in B-Ground and normally fish the East Fork and Kalama. I have had decent success on the Wash. The water is really clear and low. Lots of white bubbly water however up in the canyon. The last time I was there I saw lots of Re-Cycles lying in the canyon , but they just werent biting. It looks like things have changed however according to Steelymaster's post.
I am hoping to make it up there on Sunday.
Seems like the trick is to getting there early. I hoped to have more luck my first few trips, but wrote them of as " scouting a new river day."
I have been told that crawdad tails as well as sand shrimp work good.
Get on Lewis River road and look for pulloffs, and be sneaky, The fish are watching!

hey guys, iwent again this morning and missed one and landed one, descent hen about 11-12lbs. i was flyfishing last night for trout and pulled out some nice12-13inch rainbows of course i released them, and a guy i know slammed two fish in the rapids below the bowling alley with bobber and jig. hot pink and neon orange are best. one was a huge native and the other a fresh hatchey not recycled. well good luck, and the fish are in here very well so slam some steelies.
