Although I am done with this guy, I'm afraid, that with his contract, we are stuck with him for a good long while. I remember when Joe Girardi said that "this guy is no leader" after Cano signed with Seattle, my thoughts were - Wow, it's unusual for a former manager to say something like this, I better pay attention. Watching Cano jog down to first base on a grounder did not make me feel better. I know that Griffey Jr. did this as well but Cano is no Griffey. Last night I saw him get picked off of 2nd base - killing a rally. Then he made a throw to first that was a classic "the game is so easy" throw that we have seen from Cano a lot and it spiked into the dirt for an error. He had plenty of time to plant and make an accurate throw. Thank goodness that the King picked him up on both occasions. The Cano signing will cost Jack Z his job. The inability to inspire Cano will cost Lloyd his job. And Cano will survive them both because nobody in their right mind will pay $24M per year for this guy. So it goes......

If Jack Z left/got fired the Mariners would instantly improve.

When have any of those huge signings ever really panned out? Look at Barry Zito and the Giants. Or Stanton? Come on that was a horrible signing. The long term big money contracts for guys in their 30's are a joke.
