Tomorrow the wife and I are getting on one of the ferrys out of bham heading up the inside passage to Ketchican then on up to Juneau. Right now our itenerary is pretty much wide open. We'll be staying a couple nights in Ketchican with friends before getting back on a boat to take us up to Juneau. This isn't exactly a fishing trip. I had considered getting on some charter boat along the way but couldn't $wing it. But I'll still be taking my rod just in case. Our friends in Ketchican have a little boat.

Anyone have any recommendations on places not to be missed or good watering holes? I know it's a huge area. Just curious to hear about where we might want to check out. Once we get to Juneau we're thinking of heading up to Haines to either camp or get a room somewhere.

Thanks,
Bruce

B. Gray, All the ferry docks in S.E. Alaska are in the salt water and at this time of year the pinks are running all you need to do is get off the ferry and walk up the beach with your spinning outfit and chuck a Pixie you will have an excellent chance at catching a humpie.
As far as watering holes Ketcikan has to many to list. In Sitka its the Pioneer and in Juneau The Triangle Club is an old favorite Petersberg look for the Harbor bar but stay out of Kito's Kave

b.gary if you don't mind what you catch well then while in juneau I recomend you go down to the fishing dock at D.I.P.A.C,it's on channel drive, almost any local can tell you how to get there,it's a hatchery that has a fishing dock at the base of there fish ladder, you can catch a ****load,of pinks and chums on pixies, the best lure for humpies there is the 1/4 oz.with a pink insert, also there should be a few kings left around the quality on most won't be that good, but there a blast on light tackle, good lures for them would be #4 silver vibrax, bronze can be good too,but one of the best things for them would be golf ball size glob of eggs on a #1 treble, also since it's almost august the silvers well be starting to show, the'll hit the big glob of eggs, but #3 orange body silver blade vibrax can kill them, another good place could be the pond at fish creek on douglas island, should still be FULL of kings, but my first choice would still be D.I.P.A.C,hope this helps and good luck.
