So what is up with the Cowlitz flows? I see on the graph that the water is normally dropping like a rock this time of year. does anybody have an idea when they are going to drop it. I know that several of the BIG powerplants are shut down for repair and that is why several of the rivers have been running a little harder. The company I work for is going to be doing a BIG job at the Chehalis power plant. I hope they
really drop it soon. Does anybody work for the Tacoma City light that might have some helpful info.

thanx,

Call Tacoma Power's toll-free Fishing Hotline @ 1-888-502-8690. It gives current flows on the Cowlitz, Nisqually, Wynoochee, and Green Rivers, and also gives lake levels of Riffe, Alder, Wynoochee, and Cushman lakes.

I don't work for Tacoma Power, so I don't know when they intend to drop it down further. Usually by now it's running about 3500 below Mayfield Dam.

Hope this helps some - Mark.

What you are looking at is a 50 yaer averagelast year the flow was at 6500 all summer they have to keep the leval at the lake at a certain leval and that is what control what the flow will be but right now the river is perfect.

Wholesale energy prices have been at record levels the past month or two. Projects that are normally generating at very low levels this time of year are cranking out the megawatts like crazy. Ka-ching! Nothing like the sound of money when it comes time for the power manager's next performance review. Isn't energy de-regulation neat? Power companies have been crying that the increased competitiveness of de-regulation causes them to not be able to afford fish protection measures. The next thing you know, the wholesale price climbs by a factor of 40 (!) and they make more in a month than they did all of last year.

Now why does this make me cynical?

Sincerely,

Salmo g.
