dying to know if anyone has a report from sekiu area from the opener? I'm busy making my move from the tri-cities, washington to Port Angeles and have no time to hit the water yet. Planning on making it out in a couple of weeks.... and frequently from then on! Any little tidbits will help me make it through a LONG wait.

My buddy and I fished Neah Bay on the 30th. From the boundry of area 5 to the point. We had a ton of action boating about forty or so. Unfortunately most were undersized Kings. Did release two kings that were @10lb's. Released 4 or 5 coho that were OK. Only landed three hatchery silvers worth keeping. In two days we were checked 3 times, so make sure you are legal!!! Fish sould be packing on some weight and it sould be decent for you. Cut Plug Herring or a Green and white Fly. Shallow.

Exchanged weekend fish reports at work this morning, and one co-worker said they caught several kings off the beach at Sekiu. All on buzz bombs, all about 1 hour before high slack.

Corky,
Did your friend say if they had any size to them? I saw in the regs that you could fish that area for kings in Nov. Is there many fish around then, all feeders I assume? I have 1 more week until my move from the nuclear desert is over and I move in to P.A. I can hardly wait to start finding new places to fish. Thanks for the info

BWO1, the guy said they had a couple in the high twenties that they lost in the kelp. The few they got to the beach were in the low teens. One was his daughter's first.(She hated to let it go). As far as the winter blackmouth,(starting in Nov.) It is pretty good out there, but probably as good in Port Angeles. Sekiu has a pretty fun blackmouth derby around Feb. Don't see very many fish over 15 lbs. Probably average around 7 or 8 lbs. Personaly I fish steelhead all winter. Hope all this helps. Tight lines.
