PORT ORCHARD, Wash. - A 31-year-old man is in critical condition after he was stabbed during a confrontation over money with a woman he met for sex through the Backpage.com website, Kitsap County sheriff's officials said.
The woman, believed to be in her early to mid 20s, fled after the stabbing and she remains at large.
The incident unfolded around 3 a.m. Saturday at a home in the 2600 block of SE Converse Court in South Kitsap, said Scott Wilson of the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies and medics responded to the scene and found the victim lying on his back on the front porch with a stab wound to his back and a lacerated hand. He was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma, where he is listed in critical condition.
The victim told deputies that he had met the woman through Backpage.com and demanded his money back from her after the arrangement did not work to his satisfaction. An argument ensued, which quickly evolved into a physical confrontation, and the man was stabbed, Wilson said.
Investigators are searching for the woman. She is described as white, about 21 to 26 years old, standing about 5-feet-8-inches and weighing about 150 pounds, with long blond hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a white-and-black shirt and tight leather pants.
