A quote from our beloved WDFW:

"We're happy we have been able to provide a good season for people fishing at Buoy 10," said Bill Tweit WDFW Columbia River Policy Coordinator. "In fact, it's been the best season in several years, and with the coho season continuing there are plenty of fishing opportunities throughout the fall."

Best season in several years? Quota reached by this weekend for kings?

The fishing has been lukewarm from the get-go. What are these guys on? Bend over everyone!

Well put EricW. The Only possible bright spot I see coming from this season is from the management perspective regarding the marking of hatchery cohos. Hopefully the chinook are next.

Also, congrats to those lucky few that landed a fifty this season in this fishery. I've heard of a few. A friend of mine and fellow BB member, Canyon Man, came close. Nice job!

I just got back from fishing down at Chinook for a few days...I do not buy the numbers anybody know where we can get this data...I think the commercials took more than expected so now they are saying our numbers are up. The numbers that I have heard of but not confirmed are Aug. 20th, 3,200 Kings taken...if those numbers are true they are saying that we sporties will have caught 5,800 Kings in the next 4 days????!!!! Lets use the power of the internet to network this thing to get to real numbers! Any Help please post here or email me at runwildrivers@yahoo.com

Call me a little skeptical. I too just returned from Bouy 10. I have fished this for several years and this is THE slowest year... espically for kings. The majority of fish being caught are silvers. I too am VERY skeptical on what the Game & Fish Dept. use as data but assume the guy holding the pole ends up ....... on the short end of the stick! (And those nice kings stuck in some net).

We've had acouple of chances to vote them right out of the water but failed miserably both times!!! My friend just got back from 7 days of fishing bouy10 and said the fishing just plain sucked!! He caught 9 silvers and 2-3 kings in 7 days. He fishes this place every year so I would think he would have some idea as how to catch them.

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Thanks for nothing WDFW. I did a little math here, and came up with another reason to be pissed about this whole gig. I went down to B-10 last Sunday. The fishing wasn't bad, but it was far from hot. We got back to the launch with 2 silvers and a king, and the fish checker said we did better than most. I spent about 50-60 bucks on gas, bait, launch, food, etc.

So I'm gonna take a bold leap and say EVERYONE spent around that much (I'm sure many paid more). In 36,000 angler trips (# from WDFW) up to Aug 22., the local area took in about 2 million bucks. And for that we've harvested about 12,00 fish. That's over 150 bucks per fish. And the net lovers don't believe those numbers printed by sportfishing groups that show how much money anglers spend on each fish. Sure these numbers may not be entirely accurate, but you get the picture. Swell.......

OK I'm done, now off to B-10 to get the last crack at em'.

Fish on.........

It was not the best year I've ever had fishing. We hit mainly kings, 4 to 7 a day. We got the biggest king we ever put in the boat at 50 lbs. We didn't hook too many silvers, had 3 silvers in a week. I was hoping to build up my egg supply. All the fish we got were bucks, it figures. I wish we could get back there this weeked. We'll be heading to the mouth of the Cowlitz in a couple weeks.
