I had to relate something I saw on Sunday on the Hoh that may intrigue some of you Washingtonians. I went on my float with my girlfriend, her Dad, and myself w/o RT and Marty (They decided to hit the Bogie instead I do believe). Well, as I hit the shoot by Minnie Petersen campground what do you believe I saw? Well, to tell you what's going on, there was a washout of the road just before Minnie on your way up to the National Park. The road was a little rough, but was easily navigitable. As I approached the shoot whatever do I see but a WSDOT road crew (undoubtably on quatruple time) grading and packing the roadway down. They could've waited until Monday to do it. I'm sure there will be a decent answer for this somewhere. But that late in the day on a SUNDAY of all days to do roadwork. Why not wait until Monday with a little less road traffic (not that there's THAT much on that road anyways). I tried to have a nice quiet peaceful float (with of course some fishing included) and all I could hear was the beeping of the trucks and the sounds of graders and packers going off. What's next? State biologists taking stream samples of the Hoh for glacial runoff?!?!!? Just thought some of you may find this interesting. What was worse of all, I kinda joked as we passed the storage area for DOT vehicles and said "You know they'll be out today eating up some OT just like most of the other crews around the state do". Well shut my mouth, it came true. Just something interesting that some of you may find intriguing.......
