I went to the sammish last Saturday morning and hit nothing. Was there with the local crowd and saw 2 nice fish w/ a little color landed probable about #20 - #25. We did see about six other hook-ups but nothing to show. I do remember hearing a few people talking about this BB who wear you? I was wading at the fishing toward the north end of the pilings. I was wearing a black hat and had long brown hair with a goatey ( spelling ). Anyone remember me? My partner and I left about 10:30 a.m. and went to the Wallace and C & R a few nookies!!!

You can't catch those kings on the wallace Brian. They are protected if you were to get caught thats one hell of a fine.

Smart money says leave those wallace river kings alone. i know the gamie that works this area and he is watching it hard and if he catches you he will show no mercy! Back to the samish-we need rain real bad to start that urge to move upstream. can't wait. make sure you all pack the trash out. This place is too valuable to lose.

Randy (sarge) loves busting people on the wallace! Thats where I met him. Luckily it wasn't for a ticket though. Hes a good guy but he loves poppin' people, especially on the Sky and tribs. Saw him bonk a real boot last winter, I give him [Bleeeeep!] everytime I see him now.

Hey guys, I know that the Wallace kings are protected. I wasn't fishing for them, I was just downstream from the mouth fishing the north bank with float, jig and sometimes shrimp. I'm quite aware about the game department being down there all the time. You have to be dumb to try to take one of those fish out!!!! Dam you guys jumped all over me there!!! You do know there is STEELHEAD in the river too! Give me a brake!

There isn't a summer run on the wallace. I didn't mean to hurt your feeling there guy. Stay off that river till 9/1 or you'll be sorry.

J.C.B., I thought in the regs. that it said trout June 1st - Sept. 1st. Doesn't that mean that you can fish that river during these times? I went up to the hatchery about 3 weeks ago and there were sure allot of steelhead in the pin for not having a summer run, can you explain that a little better? I have heard rumors about people being able to fish just down from the hatchery under a special opener for a day or so every year!! I've heard that from a few people at the tackle stores also. Please explain, expand my knowledge more!

J.C.B.- I spoke to Sgt Lambert(local gamie) last week and he said they in fact did remove 250 summer run steelhead from the trap on the Wallace River. Those fish were recycled via the Lewis St boat launch and are once again on their way to the Wallace. Not sure if those are the result of a plant or strays but they are metalheads none the less and they are fair game.

Lots of summerruns seem to nose around before they go "home" I think some of those fish at the wallace did some exploring, next thing they knew they were stuck there.

Personaly I would love to hear more on this subject. J.C.B., BK, Chumkiller what's the deal, are there summer runs or not. I believe that there is a pretty good number of metalheads returning to the river to not have a summer run. I have also heard from lots of different locals that say they have a summer run. Please more info, I've seen for my own eyes! Why would a steelhead stray so far up a river? Why would the fish keep coming back year after year if there isn't a run? Need more info!

Can't give ya more than that. There was a heated debate about that river a while ago on this board. The fact is the river doesn't open for a few days yet."silvers" and to say your fishing for steelhead is a joke. If there are steelies there than their wild. The fact still remains that the nookies are protected and stating that your catching them isn't going to make friends here. Just tried to keep you out of trouble thats all. Just a hint for ya. It doesn't matter what your fishing for, if they think your targeting the nooks your still busted.

If the Game Warden is such a hard a$$ then why doesnt he give people tickets in NOV. for keeping chums on the Wallace? People line up and snag chums til there arms fall off! Whats the deal? Will there ever be a season for chums so some of these guys can take there fish and get the hell out of there?
A saw a few summer fish in the trap as well and i do believe they are strays that follow the Kings up in June/July. There might be a few in the wally when the silvers run, could be a nice bonus. Silvers will probably hit in Late sept. or after a good rain any time.
