If you're interested in tracking treaty tribe fishing regulations, you can request to be put on the WDFW email list by contacting:

TreatyFishRegs@dfw.wa.gov.

You'll receive all the new tribal regulation proposals. I just got a note that the PNPTC tribes - Jamestown and Port Gamble S'Klallam - are going to have another halibut opener noon May 1 to noon May 2 for up to 21 boats and an 800 lb per fisherman limit.

"Back in the Day" WDF had all the commercial regulations for salmon in all of Puget Sound for all areas, including C&S, that should be available online now. It was updated whenever a new reg was filed, by whomever.

That should be no surprise, They have been commercial fishing halibut just days before are opener for years. Why they cant fish a few months before or after baffles me.

They do the same with the shellfish seasons. It bugs me they get to pick and choose all the clean all the largest of the available harvest just before the sport guys get to clean up the scraps. They literally cork us every year.

True.

With crab the fix is easy. In those management areas with NT commercial crabbing every year the recreational season should open on an emergency basis concurrent with the first tribal pot hitting the water.

That would allow recreational crabbers the opportunity to crab on the maximum harvestable biomass rather than dealing with leftovers.

The tribes don't set our seasons, WDFW does. It's WDFW's decision to send us out after tribal fisheries. It's also WDFW's decision to send us out on the biggest tides of the year.
